We are committed to concrete as an architectural element because of its versatility, its pliability, and its virtually limitless applications. We believe that properly manipulated, concrete has the ability to transform any interior or exterior space. Mandala is on the cutting edge of the emerging industry of concrete design. We employ an innovative mix design that allows us to make lighter concrete that is 4 times stronger than typical concrete and 25% thinner than the industry standard. We are continually pushing to find greener methods and mixes. And we are committed to developing new casting methods and artistic processes to innovate the industry, as well as respond to the most demanding design requests. From a business standpoint, we compete with granite and marble manufacturers, and other purveyors of solid surface architectural products. But unlike our competition, what we offer is as much functional art as it is a solid surface option. Ours is a unique creative process that begins with collaborative design and ends with a handmade product that will continue to serve our clients for years to come. We are experienced with jobs and budgets in a range of sizes. We have perfected the simplest concrete applications (countertops and vanities), but we are intrigued by the challenge of our wildest design ideas. We are experienced and comfortable doing both and everything in between. We approach each job with the same level of professionalism, courtesy, and timeliness, no matter how large or small it is. We are idealistic in many ways, but we believe that the financial bottom line is not the most important thing. Yes, we are running a business that has to pay the bills. We are feeding families and trying to put something away for the future, just like everyone else. But for the happiness and health of our working environment, we are constantly striving for balance. We prioritize every relationship and we look at every project with the enthusiasm of artists looking for creative outlets. This does not mean that every business relationship has been easy—we have worked with our share of demanding clients and large construction companies. Regardless, we afford the same level of commitment to everyone, and client satisfaction is always our priority. The Mandala Crew- Brandon, Chuck, Neil and Jess comprise our talented, ass-busting crew. These guys love what they do and they do it well. Yeah, it's a job, but each individual is encouraged to make it what they want it to be. Their competence allows them a level of autonomy that keeps them fully engaged in the process and ultimately, makes them responsible for a product that our clients love and the crew can be proud of. They work to music that varies from bluegrass to punk to wrist-slitting anthems to Scorpion and beyond. They work hard all week, but when it's time to let loose, they play hard too. Jeremy French - Panjandrum - /panjandrm/ • noun a person who has or claims to have a great deal of authority or influence. There is no doubt Jeremy has had major influence over Mandala Design since its inception in 2004. He is the driving force behind many of Mandala's most innovative designs. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Jeremy seeks the jobs that push his comfort zone and force him into new artistic territory. Jeremy is husband to Betsy and father to Lela and Miles. He enjoys attempting bicycle kicks in his over-thirty soccer league, climbing forty-foot trees, and all-night poker games. Wes Rogers - Business Manager -Wes is the brains behind the operation, and the one who keeps Jeremy and Andrew in check. Armed with a head for numbers and a biting sarcastic wit, Wes is the one that makes sure Mandala does not go bankrupt. Wes is husband to Annie and father to Asa. He possesses a remarkably open-minded appreciation for music of (almost) all genres. He also enjoys Sunday afternoons on the soccer field and Kentucky basketball. Andrew Ward - Shop Manager - Andrew is the diligent force that keeps things moving in the shop and on-site. He is the man on the scene from templating, mold building, finishing and installation. He has an impeccable work ethic and a pride in Mandala that ensures customer satisfaction. He has a colorful personality as well as a keen eye for color. It may sound like he does everything and that’s because he practically does. Andrew is husband to Jessica and father to newborn Lucious. For Andrew, it’s the Cubs in the summer and the Bears in the winter. He is also the perennial winner of the “Winner-takes-all, Mandala March Madness Office Pool” much to the chagrin of many of his coworkers and the extended Mandala family.
